Our Story

Transforming the coffee landscape in Western Kenya through producer-led initiatives

Sacred Hands Coffee farmers

The sacred hands coffee project is a producer-led initiative focused on transforming the coffee landscape in Western Kenya. Established by Hansel Iravonga in 2023, the project was initially created to assist local smallholder farmers in organizing and acquiring knowledge about quality coffee cultivation. The goal is to develop a regional hub for innovative processing techniques, agronomic practices, and enhanced market access.

Western Kenya, often overshadowed by the prominent Mt. Kenya coffee-producing regions, possesses remarkable potential due to its high elevation, fertile volcanic soils, and distinctive varieties of Kenyan coffee cultivars. The sacred hands coffee project is committed to harnessing this potential by emphasizing quality, transparency, and traceability from the farm to the consumer.

We produce traceable micro-lots that consistently yield high-quality coffee while simultaneously improving the livelihoods of the smallholder farmers we work with.

What makes us stand out:

  • Year-round agricultural support via Farmer Field School
  • Competitive pricing + quality premiums
  • Direct, consistent roaster-farmer relationships
